Taking influences from bands such as Sigur Rós, Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, Mono, Mogwai and Joy Wants Eternity to name a few, the band create a sound-scape of interlocking melodies, typified by the use of reverb drenched guitar loops, and fragile, ethereal vocals.

And maybe, It is like a itemized form, I think.

Fugue - Ancient Glass

28th, Aug. 2009 | 02:54 pm

Fugue presents an arduous journey through a quagmire of genre confusion and deceivingly orchestrated pieces of music. Love, time and a soft spot for over-complication gave birth to their first effort that is full of everything they think makes music great. There's something for everyone on this splendid 17 and a half minute adventure through a veritable sonic paradise.

Tracklisting :

1. How the Grass and Trees Became Enlightened
2. The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters
3. Telemachus
4. What the Tortoise Said to Achilles

Helsingfors - Schematics

27th, Jun. 2009 | 11:20 pm

Maths is the study of quantity, structure, space, change, and related topics of pattern and form.

Rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids.

'Schematics' is the debut EP from five piece Helsingfors, including all four ex-From The Sky members, and is an instrumental post-math-rock hybrid, a logical progression from their previous work. Upping the complexity and melodic layering mixed with upbeat, jarring indie-rock, 'Schematics' was recorded primarily as a live band and bursts with the live energy this brings.

A physical CD release is also available from here and is being promoted and distributed by the new indie record label from The 405 website, 405 Records.

Tracklisting :

1. Angle of Depression
2. Truncation Error
3. Russian Inversion Notation
4. The Panda Conundrum

Part Rocket - Sparks and Beams

14th, Jun. 2009 | 03:50 pm

The record was written towards the end of 2008, and recorded over the winter of 2009. It's something of a summer pop record. Or about as close as we'll ever get to writing a summer pop record anyway. We hope you like it.

'Sparks and Beams' is a beautifully crafted and studied record, full of interweaving guitar and bass lines and intelligent flowing drums, creating a gloriously chiming and melodic post/math-rock EP.

Tracklisting :

1. Kingdom
2. Hey, Computer!
3. No Slack Battalion
4. Plagiarhythm

From The Sky - Like Crystal in a World of Glass

7th, May. 2009 | 08:51 pm

From The Sky's second release, mini-album 'Like Crystal in a World of Glass', was originally released in 2006 by Sound Devastation records and was well received for the young band. We now re-release 'Like Crystal...' on Lost Children in memory of the now defunct band as an accompaniment for their third release, EP 'A Warm Place With No Memory', which is also on Lost Children. For those wishing to purchase a CD version of 'Like Crystal...', there are still copies available from Sound Devastation here.

A more upbeat and energetic instrumental rock release than many post-rock releases in 2006, it laid the groundwork for From The Sky's manic and often chaotic shows which commonly ended with the live favourite 'Someone To Remember' and very little of the stage left.

This version of 'Like Crystal...' also contains the previously unreleased version of 'Needle Happy Paediatricians' as a bonus track.

Tracklisting :

1. Electric Snow
2. When The Sun Sets The Clouds On Fire
3. Position Of The Stars
4. There Are Ghosts In The Glass
5. Someone To Remember
6. Needle Happy Paediatricians

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving - Tiny Fragments

7th, May. 2009 | 08:50 pm

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving's music is progressive by nature. The inclusion of sparse influences, guided by concept and fused together, is the conception of their own sound, as each musicians respective inspirations force the collective into unchartered territory.

After several years of existence and growth, mid 2007 saw Tangled Thoughts of Leaving construct themselves a purpose built, make shift creative space.

A medium sized room, dedicated to forward thinking; the birth of new sound. In that very room, what was previously theory, became reality, and so began the Process of four people leaving mediocrity behind them.

In the months of January, February and March of 2008, TToL used their creative space to record a concept, aptly titled 'Tiny Fragments'. This EP was to represent their current thought process. They gave themselves a series of themes, ideas from a previously recorded improvisation and a set amount of time. What followed was roughly 3 months of sporadic sessions, in which the 18 minute, 3 part title track was written and recorded.

With the creation of Tiny Fragments the band have demonstrated that they would rather risk potential failure than never pursue the invention of interesting art. Tiny Fragments was an experiment and is the final step before they put a short lived emphasis on live performance, then return to the studio to record their debut album.

If you would like a CD version of 'Tiny Fragments', you can order one from here.

Tracklisting :
1. Tiny Fragments Part One
2. Tiny Fragments Part Two
3. Tiny Fragments Part Three
4. The Banshee

Developing their brand of Alternative Instrumental Rock, 'A Musical Study of Vicious, Flying Insects' continues to incorporate electronic noodlings into their mix of dynamic harmonising guitars and jarring drums, flicking between discordant staccato sections and driving melodic passages to create a impressive three song EP that continues to show the promise and potential of Double Handsome Dragons.

1. Bee
2. Flies & Eggs In His Lungs
3. Jim's Midnight Ride On The Wasp

Inertia Blooms - The Past Is Just Behind You

29th, Mar. 2009 | 02:02 pm

Inertia Blooms are currently in a place between two places.

Full of new material, but concentrating on the last year of degrees. We have re recorded some things that have evolved since we first did them. One is a reworking of a track off the Hostages EP, the other was available on the Scrooge compilation that Robot Professor put out a couple of years back.

You might recognise both of them as the collective last song we usually play at shows. We’ve also found another track down the back of the sofa, it had some lint on it and was next to a shilling. It’s also the first acoustic thing we have released . This is a companion release to our 2008 EP ‘Cours Camarade, Le Viuex Monde Est Derrière Toi’, and it’s name is a partial translation.

Tracklisting :
1. Your Answers Questioned
2. Funny We Should Meet Like This
3. Shine To Cracked Buttons (Acoustic)

Northvia - Venice

13th, Mar. 2009 | 08:41 pm

Inspired by the documentary "Venice: Behind the Mask" by Marco Gentile and Ryan Simon, 'Venice' is an attempt to articulate the visual images of Carnival into music. On the surface, Carnival can appear purely driven by entertainment and pleasure. Yet, underneath lie themes of death, rebirth, and social and cultural identity. Northvia explores the darker side of Carnival, hoping to reveal something more behind the mask.

Tracklisting :
1. opener
2. mask
3. double
4. canal
5. elegy
6. dragqueens
7. postqueens

Pet Slimmers of the Year - Pet Slimmers of the Year EP

15th, Jan. 2009 | 09:54 pm

Another great debut release from a 3-piece Instrumental Post-Metal band from Peterborough, home of fellow Lost Children, Double Handsome Dragons. Delicate instrumentation progressing to heavy, heavy riffs and back again, ranging the dynamic extremes and well worth many repeated listens.

From the mournful grey shadows of the English winter in early 2008, three friends sought to create something new and exciting with sounds alone. There are no words, they are redundant.

Tracklisting :
1. A Letter To His Father
2. World Without Stars
3. One Down

sleepmakeswaves - In Today Already Walks Tomorrow

4th, Jan. 2009 | 12:09 pm

"A rainbow wall of prettiness - like any piece of good art, it’ll capture you for that brief, but striking moment" - sputnikmusic "The music sweeps from delicately-textured ambience to shattering metallic riffage and back again in the blink of an eye, held together and underpinned by driving rhythms and delicious melodies" - OzProg.

Two fitting introductions to sleepmakeswaves first full EP, 'In Today Already Walks Tomorrow', following their earlier demo EP released on Lost Children, and for more quotes of gushing praise visit the band's myspace, or forums around the internet, just in case you have any doubt as to the quality of this release. Originally self released in early 2008, 'In Today....' went on to appear in many top releases of the year lists and pushed sleepmakeswaves higher among the ranks of the post-rock masses.

2009 looks to be another promising year for sleepmakeswaves, an upcoming split album this Spring with fellow Aussies, the jazzically brilliant, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving, writing for a future full-length of their own, hopefully a few more shows to cement their bright future, and all starting with this Lost Children release of their EP to spread the word further.

There are still a few digipack CDs of 'In Today Already Walks Tomorrow' available to purchase for those of you who would like the physical copy to own, with it's delicious artwork and full quality sounds. Contact sleepmakeswaves directly through their myspace or send an email to sleepmakeswaves@gmail.com for further details and they are available for shipping worldwide. You can also show your support and contact the band via their forum : http://www.ozprog.com/forum/sleepmakeswaves.

"If you are in search of a precisely produced, sweepingly cinematic, post-rock album then search no further" - The Silent Ballet

wecollectskies - Adventures of the Lost

9th, Dec. 2008 | 12:48 pm

"I don't really have a bio for it, apart from that it's a collection of tracks that were lost on my old comp"

Great words from Josh Elliott, mastermind of wecollectskies' electronic progressive post-rock metal hybrid sound. Yeah, that many genres. Some more (and better) words from Josh :

"wecollectskies has been a venture for just over a year. From one to three members but we see everyone as a element or member. To many emotions, tears, sweat, blood and pride have always gone into it, but it has made it what it is today. The same moral principles from the very start have been kept; "to make music we/I want to hear and what is individual to the heart". We choose never to collect an ego, status, follow trends or scenes and we are still the same people and that will always continue. From one member to more members, we will always be us whether its one or two/three/four left standing. We have made some amazing friends, on and off the internet/stage that we will always regard as the closest and the people that inspire us. The internet is a small fraction of what we do and believe in, but every comment, message, add, blog etc...means a lot. We really appreciate any help or advice and always will!"

Tracklisting :
1. I Am With The Lost
2. And Now I'm Found
3. Sail To The Wind
4. What Dreams May Come
5. Interlude
6. Captain We Are Sinking
7. We Collect Skies
8. Four Letter Stride
9. Red Letter Day
10. We Will Make It Home
11. The Start of The End

Magnets - Magnets

23rd, Nov. 2008 | 01:18 pm

What does Magnets sound like? Imagine, if you will, Don Caballero and Tortoise having a baby. At age ten, after seeing his parents killed in a tragic trapeze accident, Steve Reich adopted the child as his ward, and secretly trained him to be his partner in crime-fighting. Upon reaching puberty, the young band fell hopelessly in love, and shared it's most precious gift. Though Fugazi was a tender and generous lover, society wasn't ready to accept their love, and the romance was doomed. In college, Magnets took a part time job with Miles Davis. It paid minimum wage, and provided no health insurance. Now, in 2008, the Denton, Texas based trio of John Gillespie, David Willerton, and Jonathan Losasso strive to make compelling and exciting music by melding traditional rock elements with more unorthodox compositional ideas.

Tracklisting :
1. Will to Flower
2. I Know What Five Does to Numbers
3. Jewelry, Such as Memory
4. Never Ape an Ape-Man

Dawnshape - We Couldn't Seize A Bit Of Truth

3rd, Nov. 2008 | 01:22 pm

7 Tracks to close an era and open new horizons.
This EP was recorded in 2007 by Greg Hoepffner @ Feels like Home Studio, back when he wasn't in the band yet...

When people ask us "what kind of music do you make?", we think for a few seconds and then realize we don't really know.
"Rock", I guess? But not too generic? Something that's trying to surprise you, and put you in soothing state of mind at the same time? Something that feels "real" and "organic".
You get the picture. And if you don't, that's normal : these songs come with a unfinished taste, hence the name. If we couldn't seize a bit of truth with these tracks, hopefully we will in the future. Yes, we definitely will.

Tracklisting :
1. I Stood Up 'til Day Shows Up
2. Prunus
3. Depicted Intimacy
4. The Thief
5. Dandelions
6. Shone Through
7. Artifact Poetry

American Green - Beautiful Rain, Beautiful Tears

19th, Oct. 2008 | 01:24 pm

My artist name is "American Green". It is one of my favorite colours. I started composing music with DAW a few years ago. I played as a drummer in a band before that. This is my first EP. Electric guitar, the keyboard, and other machine parts were used for this EP. I love music such as Post-Rock, Electronica, Ambient, Alternative, Bossa Nova, Emo, Melodic Core, and more. I hope to be making music after this EP that is warmer and more analog. And, I am also producing music by a band called "blend ables". All of my music project are only available via the Internet at the moment.

About the EP :
1.Leaves And Drops
An easy tune which leads into "Beautiful Rain, Beautiful Tears" and makes it an easy listen. Therefore, the BPM of these tunes was made the same.
2.Beautiful Rain, Beautiful Tears
This tune is an anti-war tune. I hope for peace.
3.Dance Around April Petals
This tune is Inspired by cherry blossoms.
4.Neighborhood(memo rec.)
I recorded this tune to not forget the phrase hit upon momentarily.
5.Noon And Terracotta
Even I am surprised because a mechanical sound like this works surprisingly well for this tune.
6.The Last Home Room Hour
This tune was made when graduating from my high school and imagining the sound.
7.Marigold
This tune is influenced by bossa nova. I did not think that this tune would become so close to pop. And, the flower language of the marigold "lives". The concept is "Happy life" , "Pleasure where it lives".
